RC Car Light Kit Installation Instructions
1. Full paint and decal your car. This will correctly identify where the lights should be placed. If your car has
been raced already, clean car body with warm water and dish soap. Be sure your hands are clean. With caution
use a clean towel and household alcohol to clean the inside of the body.
Stay away from flame or sparks as alcohol is very flammable !
Avoid the clear windows to keep from possibly scratching them.
A clean body is required or the double stick tape and glue will not adhere !
2. Using a 1/16 inch drill, carefully drill from the outside to the inside of the body at the center of
where you want the lights to be. If your body has lenses, drill from the inside. do not go through the lenses.

Front Lamps = Orange Pair
Rear Lamps = Green Pair
Brake Lamps = Blue Pair
Use caution, wear eye protection, drill in a safe direction and keep hands clear !!
3. Using a DuraTrax Body Reamer or similar reamer, open up the holes a little bit at a time until
the lights fit snuggly.
This is important : while doing this be sure to align the holes in the direction you want
the lamps to shine. This is especially important on sports cars with sloped front bodies.
4. Slip lamps into position and attach a 9 volt battery. Lower the room lights and check alignment.
Front lamps should shine forward about 4 to 6 feet ahead of your car depending on how high
the lamps are from the ground. Mount the tail lamps. Use the included double stick tap to secure
the wires near the lamp. If the lamps fit loose, use some RTV or GOOP to hold lamps in place.
Do not use Super Glues of any type. They will travel everywhere and fog lamp lenses.
Brake Lamp Kits.....
If your kit has brake lamps, they are identified by the Blue wires. Mount them the
same way. You will have to find a suitable location to mount the micro lever switch near the throttle servo.
After cleaning spot, use double stick tape or Goop/RTV to secure. It should positioned such that the servo
arm starts to touch the switch when the throttle is set to Neutral. When the brakes are applied the switch
will compress and turn on the Brake Lamps.
Be sure the servo arm does not get caught on the switch at any time during throttle control.
5. Find a suitable spot on your car to secure the battery with the supplied Velcro strap. The body post
mounts work well for this.
Secure the rest of the wires with Goop/RTV and Wire Ties so they do not interfere with the
Tires, Servos, Engine and other moving parts.
6. Wait for dusk and go racing !!
Note that this kit is not to aide your visibility for night driving. Use caution at all times when
running RC cars. Today's RC cars travel in excess of 40 miles per hour, weight 3 to 10 pounds and can cause
damage and/or physical injury.
